VISUELL has designed and produced the anniversary exhibition “Höhenrausch und Lampenfieber” at the StadtPalais Museum for Stuttgart. 70 years of the TV tower and Liederhalle: two icons, two stories, one shared narrative. The exhibition links the two buildings in terms of content and design, without losing their individual character. Our concept guides visitors through history, architecture and everyday life.
The system we have developed combines mobility, modularity and reusability. Five exhibition units structure the space. They can be staged together at the StadtPalais Museum for Stuttgart and later reused separately in their respective venues. The basis is a specially designed arched table. It is lightweight, stable and constructed so that it can be easily transported and moved using a forklift. Graphic elements, exhibits and interactive features interlock precisely. They create a clear, spatial order.
A consistent key visual guides visitors through the exhibition and links the individual stations into a coherent whole. The confetti-like dots extend across all stations, areas and the space. As an expression of a vibrant anniversary, they give the exhibition its own distinctive, recognisable style. This creates a consistent unity despite the modular structure.
VISUELL divided the exhibition into three thematic areas: Pioneers, Architecture and Life. Historical photographs, film footage and selected exhibits offer multi-layered insights into the creation and use of the buildings. Ideas, pioneering spirit, planning achievements and technical innovations are interwoven with personal stories. In terms of design, we draw inspiration from the formal language of the late 1950s. Through the colour scheme, visual language, layout and typography, we draw on the spirit of the era in which the buildings were created and translate it into a contemporary design. The interactive and tactile elements encourage direct engagement and invite visitors to discover the content for themselves.
We take our educational role through design very seriously. It is therefore very important to us to make cultural topics accessible to young visitors as well. In the accompanying children’s exhibition, Lillie the Bat and Betonio the Bear guide the young audience playfully through the content. They open up their own unique perspective on architectural history.

“From the initial brainstorming workshops right through to the running of the exhibition, we received excellent advice and reliable support. The appealing exhibition design and the sustainable options for future use that VISUELL presented to us are two aspects that I particularly like.”
