The Night of Open Monuments in Baden-Württemberg is an impressive launch event for Open Monuments Day, which takes place in a different city every year. The German Foundation for Monument Protection established this day in 1993 to raise public awareness of architectural heritage and to highlight the importance of monument conservation as a vital contribution to the preservation of history and culture. The Heritage Weekend is the most significant community-focused and cultural event in the state.
This year’s event is themed ‘Talent Monument’. The Night of Open Monuments begins with a ceremonial opening at the Baden-Baden Theatre, featuring speeches by prominent figures from society and politics. VISUELL is responsible for the event’s design, from the invitations and brochure to the wayfinding system and stage design. We work closely with the City of Baden-Baden and the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments (LAD) to ensure that the corporate identities of both partners and the concerns of all stakeholders are harmoniously integrated. Content, approach and design are determined in a series of workshops and meetings. This requires tact and clear communication, underpinned by a well-thought-out organisational concept. To draw attention to the open monuments at night, we use the wayfinding system we have developed, featuring 6-metre-high illuminated cones. The banners feature information about the buildings, the location of the monuments and references to further content available online, with the colours signifying the different city districts.
VISUELL’s services encompass ideation, the conception and implementation of print media, the design of the stage set, the development and implementation of the light cones, project management, as well as the graphic design and printing of the banners for the theatre and the light cones. Production takes place both in-house and externally in close collaboration with long-standing service providers. VISUELL manages the entire event from a single source, which makes this project exceptional. This holistic approach offers our clients significant advantages and enables seamless coordination between the various project partners.

“We would like to thank VISUELL for the smooth and, above all, hassle-free collaboration! In particular, for a professional working relationship, it is important to us that we can operate on a basis of high trust and mutual transparency, which has been the case with VISUELL in the best possible sense.”
