Since 1986, VISUELL has been writing success stories in the ever-changing world of design and communication. Thee founders Alexander Knaus and Horst Jäkel draw on many years of experience and are always up to date and modern. With the second generation, the company remains in the family. Laureen Seider, née Knaus, Media Designer B.A., and Luis Seider, Architekt M.Eng., have been setting the new direction since 2022: Communication in space – exhibitions for brands and museums.

2025 | Architecture and Design

Laureen Seider is appointed to the jury of the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award  FOCUS OPEN. // Two invitations as a speaker: Luis Seider speaks at the EU Design Day in Brussels and Laureen Seider talks about Future Skills at Futuromondo in Stuttgart. // New creative forces in the team: double reinforcement in the field of architecture and a graduate of the Stuttgart Art Academy. // Our first major exhibition outside Baden-Württemberg for the Haus der Geschichte NRW Foundation: Anniversary. 75 years of the NRW constitution. // The new website for practice design made by VISUELL goes online. // VISUELL joins the Association for Exhibition Design e.V. (VERA). 2024 We win the Focus Open GOLD from the Design Centre Baden-Württemberg for the redesign of the Glems Fruit Tree Museum.

2023 | The major remodelling

Everything is changing. Our offices are being restructured, the workstations are being modernised, the library is being given a new space and our meeting room with kitchen is now on the ground floor with a green terrace // The new website goes online // Two pitch wins: an exhibition for children at the Linden-Museum Stuttgart, State Museum of Ethnology, and the development and realisation of a communication concept for the Flugfeld Böblingen/Sindelfingen district.

2022 | Laureen and Luis Seider take over the management

Laureen Seider and Luis Seider set the new direction: Architecture and communication design, online, offline, analogue and digital // It’s time to head up high again. Our first winter trip together after such a long time to the Silvretta Biehler­höhe. 2021 VISUELL gets a foosball table yeah yeah yeah. // We develop and programme the first real-time online game for the Feingestaubt exhibition at the StadtPalais Museum für Stuttgart. // Saransh Sharma, our first motion designer, likes tomove it, move it. // The year of wins: Focus Open SILVER from the Design Centre Baden-Württemberg for the Stuttgart in der verlorenen Zeit exhibition at the StadtPalais Museum für Stuttgart and pitch win for the Agilent Erlebniswelt // Two of our new productions appear in the Event Yearbook 21/22.

2020 | Luis Seider, our first architect in the team

Luis Seider is the first full-blooded freelance architect at VISUELL // Summmm, our beautiful calendar book 2020 receives the Gregor Calender Award. // We publish an article in Inapa’s Sustainable Publishing compendium.

2019 | We design the world's first escape exhibition

... another pitch win: The first Escape exhibition Stuttgart in the lost time in the StadtPalais Museum for Stuttgart// At the top! Our further education: Architecture in Innsbruck and Munich. // The Best Cars event appears in the Event Yearbook 19/20. 2018 We win the pitch for the presentation of the Pleistocene at the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart. 2017 The annual training programme takes us far far east to the World Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan. 2016 No April Fool’s joke! VISUELL is active on Instagram// We are remodelling. The lower floor becomes an ideas workshop and thus offers even more space for creativity. // Our calendar book “nachgedacht” receives an award at the calendar show.

2015 | Laureen Knaus as a permanent member of the team

Laureen Knaus is our first DHBW student on the Media Design programme at Ravensburg University of Applied Sciences // We publish our first VISUELL magazine: FRED – fascinating, revolutionary, eloquent, cunning. 2012 Our first commission for a ministry: ECHT GUT! Volunteering in Baden-Württemberg.

2011 | Scenography as an important area at VISUELL

On 1 January, Bernhard Gruber-Ballehr becomes Managing Director of the Scenography division. 2010 Internal reorganisation creates four areas under the umbrella of our holistic communication: print, scenography, press, internet // We develop the concept for the first VISUELL calendar book “nachgedacht”. // The first event under the roof takes place in May. 2009 Our second website goes online.

2008 | The first VISUELL event

Schwabenangst, an audiovisual crime thriller production in the winery of the city of Stuttgart. 2007 Special recognition at the Stuttgart Calendar Show, the calendar “Einblicke 07”. 2006 We are rebuilding. A green oasis is created in the backyard of the Ideenwerkstatt. 2005 The 400th book finds a permanent place in our VISUELL specialised library, with more to follow. 2003 The “Individual weekly calendar” training project is honoured at the Stuttgart Calendar Show. 2002 Analogue to digital: We swap the entire photographic technology, small, medium and large format.

2001 | Our own studio 97a

The second move. We move into the bright, open-plan ideas workshop in our own building at Tübinger Str. 97a // Our first website goes online // The first major accident: Horst Jäkel breaks his ankle during an event in Switzerland. He takes over the project management of the event shortly afterwards from his hospital bed.

2000 | Scenography, the first time part of our performance

We organise the “100 years of Stribel” celebration and design our first exhibition on the history of the company. 1999 We win the Europe-wide pitch: conception and realisation of the customer magazine “medinews” for Agilent Technologies.

1998 | The largest multivision with 42 projectors

Our largest multivision: 42 computer-controlled projectors, 5-channel sound technology, “Space Time Movement” event. // The change of name to VISUELL Studio für Kommunikation means new fields of activity, new challenges. // Our first training programme for the World Expo in Lisbon. 1997 Four weeks of architectural photography with a large-format camera: ESAG, Dresden. 1996 We stage our first trade fair stand for BKK Hochrhein-Wiesenthal.

1995 | Babymodel Laureen

The first baby photo model: Daughter Laureen Knaus on the cover of a Hewlett-Packard brochure. // Our first trainees: Petra Rebhorn and Andrea Döhring begin their training as advertising and media artwork producers. 1994 Cover images for the magazine “Bild der Wissenschaft” are created using complex electronic image processing. // Horst Jäkel becomes a lecturer at the Stuttgart Media University. 1993 We buy our first Apple Macintosh Centris. 1992 Wedesign and realise the annual report for Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall. 1991 We win the SILVER AWARD at “The Images Festival” in England.

1990 | Most trick cameras

With three computerised trick cameras, we probably have the largest number in Germany. // We win our first pitch “Conception and realisation of the presentation for the IBM World Congress”. 1989 The first move: we move intolarger premises at Olgastr. 112 // We stage our first event: “The best cars in the world” for Auto Motor und Sport. 1988 Priska Bühler is the second step towards a fantastic team // The first 9-projector multivision: 3-surface softedge technologyfor Duravit. 1987 The “Vision through images” event is the first public appearance on the company’s own behalf. Karl Gerstner is among the many well-known guests from the advertising industry. // Alexander Knaus becomes a lecturer at the Stuttgart Media University. // The first foreign assignment: a multimedia show for IBM in Brussels.

Alexander Knaus and Horst Jäkel found VISUELL Studio für Bildkommunikation on 27 August 1986 at Rosenbergstr. 82 in Stuttgart.
